3rd Trimester

I’ve finally made it to the third trimester!  Since this feels more momentous than starting the second trimester I felt like I needed to mark the occasion.  Have I told you guys that we’re having a girl?  We’re really excited and have already started getting her nursery ready.  I meant to write a post about it a while back, but then I probably feel asleep…  exhaustion has been pretty constant for me throughout the pregnancy, but I know that things could be MUCH worse, so I’m trying to remember to just be grateful.

So far my diet hasn’t been an issue, though I did have to start taking iron supplements.  It isn’t necessarily related to diet, as anemia is really common in pregnancy.  Your body produces something like fifty percent more blood, so it’s more difficult to get enough iron for all the fluid.  At least I think that’s how it works.  The first day I took them I was really sick as soon as I ate, but since I’m waking up so much in the night anyway I just take them then and haven’t had anymore problems.

Right now I feel like I’ve been pregnant forever, and I also feel like I’m not ready to actually have a baby.  I can’t believe that in just under three months we’ll be meeting this little girl!  Though I feel like I’m kind of getting to know her because she’s been kicking up a storm.  Ryan and I felt her move for the first time on our wedding anniversary – she already has great timing.  She squirms a lot, and it’s pretty crazy to see my belly moving under my clothes.

I’m trying to relax as much as possible as I’m not able to do much else at this point.  Standing for more than ten minutes is usually more than I can take, I think mostly because my body just isn’t used to carrying this extra weight.  And I’m feeling like there’s no more room for her to grow even though she’s going to at least triple her size between now and birth.  My organs already feel so squished that I’m baffled as to how that’s going to work out, but I guess it will!

I’m eating about half of what I used to, and I feel twice as full.  I have no idea how people gain crazy amounts of weight during pregnancy because I always feel so stuffed.  Though I guess I should wait until all is said and done before I say that.  I still have time to pack on the pounds, and I’m definitely hooked on cookies, chocolate, ice cream and any other sweets you can think of.  This kid’s gonna come out wanting a piece of cake, just her like mommy.

  1. You’re having a girl!!!

I am so in love with this post. How special that you felt her move on your anniversary.

You’re so beautiful, Kim! I’m sure Ryan is having a blast taking tons of pictures and videos of his glowing wifey.

Keep us posted on every precious detail!

(I owe you and Ryan and email!)

Thinking of you guys! Huge congrats!

  2. You look beautiful! Enjoy this special time. I loved all of my pregnancies, but the third trimester always feels extra special for me. I ate a lot of dark chocolate covered almonds with my second and he definitely has the sweet tooth in the family.

  3. Yay! I thought you’d have a girl! I’m SO excited to meet her and hold her and see her grow. xoxo

You look fantastic Kim!! I can’t believe we are both having little girls?? So crazy! Be sure too relax as much as possible during this last trimester as it gets harder and harder to get around-at least that has been my experience. We are anxiously awaiting baby Stiggy’s arrival, who is already aprox. 9 lbs, no joke! And we’re still 9 days from the due date!! Take care of yourself!

  6. Congratulations!! You look amazing…I’m so happy for you!!

  7. Congratulations on your baby girl! You look gorgeous. I’m starting the 3rd trimester too and so far so good. I’m feeling heavier and more tired but I’m eating more (during the end of 2nd trimester I started too eat a lot more!), don’t know how all that food can fit but it’s happening (and for that reason I’m gaining more weight too).

  8. You look great! Our baby girl just turned 7 months. It’s hard to believe not so long ago I was still pregnant. I had absolutely no trouble with being vegan, weight gain or iron. I love having this adorable healthy gurgler as an example how easy and possiblebeing vegan is even during pregnancy. Enjoy these last months, the last will leave you feeling pretty fit to burst hehe :) . Love your blog. Keep it up!

  9. Congratulations! Have a wonderful time through the rest of the pregnancy.

  10. You are glowing so beautifully! I definitely understand how it feels during the third trimester. Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy and look forward to hearing about your little princess.

  11. I just stumbled upon your blog this evening and I’ve become a fan! Your videos are fabulous and you are adorable to boot. :) Congrats on your Little One! Have a great New Year!
