Best Friends Super Pet Adoption

UPDATE: Just wanted to do a quick update and thank everyone who came out to the Super Pet Adoption yesterday.  It was a great day, and the location and weather were both fantastic!  This is a shot Ryan took as we were packing everything up. It was such a gorgeous sunset and the perfect conclusion to a great day.

The only thing I didn’t like about yesterday was having to think about all the animals there that didn’t get adopted.  There were so many, and they were all so adorable.  Volunteers walked dogs around all day, and after seeing hundreds of them, I couldn’t wait to get home to Omar.  I saw a few cats as well, but couldn’t bear to go into the cat tent knowing that we couldn’t bring another one home with us.

Coming home to both of our adopted animals was even more special for me last night, and if you’re interested in sharing your life with a companion animal, I can’t encourage you enough to ADOPT!  I know it sounds harsh, but every time someone gets a pet from a breeder, they are directly responsible for a shelter animal being put down.  There are just too many animals that need homes and loving families, and not enough of either to go around.

I can’t wait to have the space and resources to be able to take in more animals that need homes.  In the meantime though, knowing that there are organizations out there like Best Friends working to place animals in good homes helps to put my mind somewhat at ease. I’m so happy to have been able to work with them yesterday and to have donated a portion of our sales to their noble cause.

I just wanted to let you guys know that C’est La V Bakeshop will be selling baked goods tomorrow at the Best Friends Animal Society Super Adoption here in Los Angeles from 10-4 at the La Brea Tar Pits.  The event is free to attend, and 20% of our proceeds will be donated to Best Friends, so you can stock up on vegan treats and feel good about supporting a great cause!

We’re going to have black cocoa brownies; peanut butter brownies; gluten-free double chocolate cookies; gluten- and soy-free coconut macaroons; white chocolate macadamia nut cookies; brand new mega chocolate mint cookies; ginger, cranberry orange and blueberry lemon scones; pistachio aniseed biscotti and pecan pumpkin biscotti with chocolate chips.

This is our last scheduled event of the year, so if you want some tasty vegan baked goods without having to place an order, this is your chance!  Hope to see you there!

  1. I LOVE this post. Just went and walked a couple of buddies at the shelter today. I know what you are saying about the amazing dogs not get adopted. My favorite dog still to this day is an old junkyard dog named Karl, and he has been there for 2 years.
    Keep up the great work!

  2. Thanks, ranise! I need to look into volunteering at a shelter around here. I really admire you for doing that. I just checked out your blog, and I love it! I’m originally from Chicago and really miss it, so it’s great to live there vicariously through your posts!
