Animal Acres Gala 2010

Last night C’est La V Bakeshop provided some decadent desserts for the annual Animal Acres Gala.  It was our third time doing desserts for the Gala, and as I’ve said in the past, it always holds a special place in my heart.  Four years ago, when I was still working at Leda’s Bakeshop, the Gala was the first place that we unveiled the vegan line of cupcakes.  At that time, it was pretty hard to find any vegan cupcakes in Los Angeles, and it’s amazing to see how much that’s changed in such a short amount of time!

The highlight of the evening is always getting to spend time with the animals, and that little rooster up there (who we named “Puff Daddy” but who’s real name is either Kevin or Versace) was my favorite last night.  He was tiny, but very assertive, and it was really funny to watch him strutting around and talking to everyone.  He was like a rooster version of our very own fluffy black animal, Maya, so you know I just couldn’t get enough of him!

Speaking of cats, this guy decided to chill out on the silent auction tables.  You have to love an event where the animals get to just hang out whenever they please.  As animal lovers, I think we prefer it that way!

You might notice that we don’t have any actual photos of the cupcakes at the event, and that’s because we didn’t even get a chance to put them all out before a huge line had formed, and they started flying off the plates.  We gave away over 500 cupcakes in about ten minutes, so it wasn’t until we woke up today that we realized we never got any shots of them.  I even had a new “milk” chocolate cake flavor that I meant to get a photo of.  Oh well – guess there’s always next year!

  1. What great shots! Puff daddy is too cute!

  2. Hey there! I know this is somewhat off topic but I was wondering
which blog platform are you using for this website? I’m getting sick and tired
of WordPress because I’ve had issues with hackers and I’m looking at alternatives for another platform.
I would be great if you could point me in the direction of
    a good platform.
