“Pretzels: Based on the recipe ‘Soft Pretzels’ by Colleen”

These Pretzel bites were what we served for the film “Precious: Based on the novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire”.  I’ve made them before in classic pretzel shape, and they were so good that I was looking for a chance to make them again.

I was originally going to do these for “Inglourious Basterds” as “Inglourious Dough Turds”.  Not the most appetizing name.  Then when I went to make them and read the word “Pretzels”, it hit me – Precious!

I think if I make these again I’ll stick to the larger shape.  These were okay, but this shape didn’t reheat as well and there was less crisp-to-soft ratio that makes the soft pretzel such a thing of beauty.  Even so, these little salty babies dipped in mustard were pretty tasty.

    I’ve been loving reading about your oscar themed food – so creative! The idea of bite sized soft pretzels is great! And, I must say, there is a certain ring to ‘dough turds’….

    These look really interesting. I’ve never heard about pretzel bites before. But they sound very delicious! I usually make lye pretzels and I bet they would be awesome as bites, too.
