After years of going without, we finally had s’mores on our camping trip!  Every time we go camping I always mean to buy some vegan marshmallows (regular marshmallows contain gelatin), and then I always forget about it until we’re packing up.  This time I planned ahead and bought some Sweet & Sara Marshmallows from Follow Your Heart.

At first I was a little skeptical that they’d be as good as “regular” marshmallows, so I tasted one right out of the package.  It was SO good!  Much better than any other marshmallow I’ve tried.  I could have eaten the whole package right then.  Once I knew how awesome these marshmallows were I had high hopes for the s’mores, and I was not disappointed.  The marshmallows toasted up perfectly.  We stacked them with dark chocolate on graham crackers, and they were perfect little dessert sandwiches.

The Sweet & Sara marshmallows are a bit on the pricey side, but they’re so worth it.  If you think of it as an artisan marshmallow, as opposed to the mass produced stuff, it’s easier to justify.  I’m so excited that we have s’mores back in our camping life!

  1. Sweet & Sara’s are great! There’s also now a free and open-source marshmallow recipe online that actually works! Marshmallows are possible at home again. There are even recipes for mocha marshmallows and margarita marshmallows. Check it out:

  2. I love that top photo! I haven’t had s’mores in twenty years, but yours look so good, I’ll have to search for vegan marshmallows this summer. It’s still a little chilly for camping in Maine… supposed to be in the 30s tonight.

  3. Oooh yum! Just wait til you try Dandies though!

  4. I know! I can’t wait to try those!

  5. Wow. What an awesome photo of the campfire.
